A total of 52 Afghans landed in Berlin and Hanover with confirmation of acceptance. This is the sixth flight of this kind since the change of government in Berlin. Hundreds of Afghans are still waiting in Pakistan to leave the country.

A total of 52 Afghans from the federal reception program have arrived in Germany. They flew from Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, to Berlin and Hanover. This is the sixth flight of this kind since the change of government in Berlin, as announced by a spokesperson for the Federal Ministry of the Interior.

The new federal government has so far only allowed Afghans to fly to Germany who have received commitments through the federal admissions program and successfully applied for visas.

Its entry was fought in court

After the Taliban came to power, around 1,900 Afghans in Pakistan were still waiting to travel to Germany. Because they were no longer safe in Afghanistan under Taliban rule, they found acceptance from Germany.

These people are former local employees of the Bundeswehr or other German agencies who worked in Afghanistan, as well as people who now have to fear persecution because of their commitment to building a democratic state.

The black-red federal government had terminated the admissions program for them. The fact that some of those affected and their relatives received visas even though they quit is because lawsuits have been filed in Germany to force their entry.

Money to not leave the country

Recently the federal government offered money to some people in the admissions process if they dropped out of the program. According to the Federal Ministry of the Interior, a total of 62 people accepted the offer by the deadline. “We are still in touch with other people,” he said at the party’s request ARD capital studio.

The Pakistani people are slowly running out of time. Starting this new year, Pakistan also wants to deport Afghan citizens it has received from Germany back to their home countries. This has happened several times in the last few months.
