90 days without training: Dariush’s long medical suspension after his quick knockout against Benoît Saint Denis

Three months without being able to return to the octagon. Beneil Dariush stayed just sixteen seconds ahead of Benoît Saint Denis on the night from Saturday to Sunday, but he had to wait a long time before returning to training. Following the quick knockout the American received at Madison Square Garden, the New York Athletic Commission (NYSAC) revealed the medical suspension decided for the UFC 322 fighter.

Dariush was banned from MMA training for 90 days, or three months. Without training, without an official fight, the 36-year-old lost his discipline to recover and took no risks after the shock he experienced against “BSD”.

7 day rule for “BSD”

The latter must also pay attention to the rest period. Like Islam Makhachev or Valentina Shevchenko, the 29-year-old Frenchman did not suffer much. He was arrested for seven days, the minimum duration, by the New York Athletic Commission.

His opponent will only be able to fight again in February 2026, provided the neurologist gives his approval. Medical holds are given at the end of every important event to avoid major repercussions caused by an early return to the octagon.

Sunday, “God of War” dropped Dariush with a cross (strong blow with back arm) left behind in the temple when he was under pressure. This success brought Saint Denis to 8th place in the UFC lightweight class (-70 kg).
