A truck filled with granules lay in a ditch between the Erfurt-Ost and Erfurt-West intersections. Therefore, the toll road was partially closed for about two hours.
Autobahn 4 near Erfurt has reopened after being closed for about two hours following the crash. A truck attempted to avoid a car that had previously collided with another car, highway police said. The tractor-trailer turned right and stopped in a ditch.
Therefore, the accident occurred between the Erfurt-Ost and Erfurt-West junctions. The right lane was initially closed, as announced by the highway police in the afternoon. The truck lying in the ditch was loaded with harmless pellets. These must be vacuumed before being rescued. The closure was lifted about two hours later, a highway police spokesman said in the evening.
The 24 year old man reportedly wanted to move his car from the left lane to the middle lane. According to information, another car was driving there. The vehicle collided sideways. The car, which was originally driving in the middle, was thrown to the left and hit the middle divider. The other car hit the truck on the right.
It said the 21-year-old driver of the car who was initially in the center and the 60-year-old driver of the truck were injured and taken to hospital. Losses from the crash are currently estimated at 85,000 euros, he said.
