Sylvia and Noureddin Bongo, the wife and son of Gabon’s ousted president Ali Bongo, were sentenced Wednesday to 20 years in prison, primarily for embezzlement of public funds. Arrested after the August 30 2023 coup, they were jailed for 20 months before being allowed to leave the country and are now based in London.
