Pep Guardiola has been on Manchester City’s bench for almost ten years. His contract still runs for two years, but the coach is likely to end it early.
So far, Pep Guardiola has played 550 matches as Manchester City coach. The Spaniard has been absent from the Premier League club since 2016 – and is currently successful. In the first Premier League standings table, “Cityzens” are in second place and are chasing league leaders Arsenal FC. However, the coach is said to have considered quitting his job early.
This was reported by the “Times” in English. According to several sources, Guardiola is considering terminating his contract which runs until 2027 after the current season. However, the former FC Bayern coach is said to have not yet made a final decision.
Things didn’t go well for Manchester City last season. During the crisis, Guardiola spoke openly about pressure and stress. For example, last December he said: “Do I sometimes lose my mind? Yes. I don’t sleep well and I don’t eat well. I always have to eat snacks. In the evening I only eat soup.”
He also said at the time: “When I feel bad, I feel bad. But I know it will pass. It’s the same when I’m overjoyed.” Guardiola can be happy now. His team won 3-0 against Liverpool FC on Sunday. The team previously won 3-1 against Bournemouth. City have suffered three defeats so far this season.
