Kidnapping trial: Court plays kidnapping audio recording | News

Hamburg – This actually happened the night of the kidnapping! Christina Block’s daughter, Klara Hensel, was actually supposed to be a witness that day. But the court announced: the interrogation of the kidnapping victims will be postponed until mid-December. Instead, the day of the trial begins with a recording of an emergency call button from New Year’s Eve – a button carried by Theodor’s son during the kidnapping.

Steakhouse heiress Christina Block (52, “Block House”) is the reason kidnapping accused. According to the indictment, he is said to have commissioned Cyber security company Cupula to do it to kidnap his children Klara and Theodor from their father’s care in Denmark on New Year’s Eve 2023/24.

The process was at a crossroads: at the end of the 21st day of the trial, Dr. David Rieks, lawyer for sports legend Gerhard Delling, 66, called for the trial to be postponed. The background was the subsequent admission of the parties’ IT data as evidence – “a terabyte of data”, a difficult amount for lawyers to handle.

If the court approves the request, the process will be canceled and restarted. All negotiations of the previous 22 days must be repeated. The court had previously announced that the trial would be extended by 16 more dates until the end of June 2026.

  • This is the essence of the custody process

Parallel to the trial surrounding the kidnapping of Block’s children, there was a custody case. When Klara and Theodor were not returned by their father to their mother in 2021, Christina Block went to court. The High Court of the Hanseatic Region granted temporary residence rights and obliged the father, Stephan Hensel, to return the children.

In Denmark, the decision was not implemented by the authorities. Reason: The country does not automatically recognize custody decisions from family courts in other EU countries. Because the children also refused repatriation and this could not be enforced under Danish law, Klara and Theo remained with their father.

Christina Blok doesn’t give up. But the Hamburg family court did not help him after several proceedings. Shortly before and immediately after the kidnapping, they stated that they were no longer responsible because the children had now lived in Denmark for a long time and were well integrated there. Recently, a Danish family judge granted sole custody to Hensel in May 2025 and prohibited Block from having any contact with Klara and Theodor: The estrangement was caused by Christina Block herself.

On November 3, a family court in Denmark made another final decision: Christina Block lost custody and access rights to her children. Pastor Stephan Hensel received sole custody. Klara and Theodor’s children were no longer allowed to have contact with their mother. Block was shocked by the ruling.
