JFKennedy’s nephew to run as Democratic candidate for Congress – News

John F. Kennedy’s grandson, Jack Schlossberg, will run as the Democratic candidate for a seat in Congress in next year’s midterm elections.. The New York Times wrote about it.

Schlossberg is the son of Caroline Kennedy, the only surviving daughter of former United States president and Jacqueline Kennedy. The 32-year-old politician announced he would run for the key New York seat vacated by Democrat Jerrold Nadler, who is not seeking re-election.

The young Kennedy therefore fits into his family’s political legacy, which his second cousin, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., now Health Secretary under Trump, and whom Schlossberg has harshly criticized in the past, distanced himself from. Schlossberg, 32, said he believes Democrats need more voices to counter alleged abuses of power by President Trump and his allies, arguing that a Democratic majority in the House of Representatives is the only way to restore democratic norms.

“There is nothing our party cannot do to address the cost of living, corruption and constitutional crisis we are experiencing,” he said. “But without Congressional oversight, there’s almost nothing we can do.”
