Meloni “Mattei’s plan is an operational reality, Italy is the bridge between the EU and Africa” – Il Tempo

ROME (ITALPRESS) – “Today the Mattei Plan is no longer an idea, but an operational reality that is producing real results. I would like to remember the three most important things: the direct involvement of 14 African countries, the more than one billion resources that Italy has devoted to projects on the African continent, the synergy with Global Gateway worth more than 1.2 million. The current cooperation focuses on 4 main strategic initiatives: the creation of the Lobito Infrastructure Corridor, to connect West and East Africa, uniting Angola, the Republic of Democratic Congo and Zambia; development of coffee production chains in various African countries; expansion of the Blue Raman cable to East Africa, a maritime backbone that will connect India with European economies, across the Middle East and the Mediterranean in Rome, which will involve hundreds of startups in Africa to apply artificial intelligence to various sectors in this Plan.” That’s what Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said in her video message to the European Parliament regarding the Mattei Plan for Africa and the Global Gateway.
“We do this work because we believe that investing in the future of Africa means investing in the future of Europe itself. We do it through a method that has become a reference point at the European level, as demonstrated by the presentation of the Global Gateway Hub a few weeks ago in Brussels, the permanent platform that will coordinate European projects and investments on the African continent. Italy will continue to be a bridge between Europe and Africa, providing the expertise of its companies, the strength of its institutions and its great tradition of dialogue. Because the future of Europe passes through the future of Europe. A more stable, safer and safer Africa. More prosperous. And Africa’s future passes through a Europe that is able to listen, invest and build together, with humility and respect for others. I am sure, the European Parliament will be able to play a leading role,” concluded Meloni.
