Nordio “Referendum for or against Meloni? This is not a political contest” – Il Tempo

ROME (ITALPRES) – The referendum should not be a referendum for or against Meloni’s government, or for or against Minister Nordio. Justice is not a political game: it is the tears and blood of citizens. Voting must remain based on merit – career separation, lottery for CSM, high disciplinary tribunal – not based on membership. If the consultations become political clashes and the judiciary joins forces to ‘defeat the government’, this will have bad consequences for the judiciary itself: political defeats are not painless, while technical defeats mean nothing, the structure simply changes or is fixed. Therefore, let us maintain a calm, rational and one-on-one discussion, based on arguments, not based on fans.” So Minister of Justice, Carlo Nordio, was a guest on Ping Pong on Rai Radio1.

“To see ANM launching a no-committee in the Cassation chamber of the Supreme Court is extremely inappropriate. We have seen beautiful strikes and demonstrations with the Constitution agitated in the streets. However, I am very open to any discussion, one on one, with the president of ANM or with anyone else, in a true dialogue and without television gimmicks. It seems clear to me that the first interlocutor should be President Parodi”he added.
