At Christmas, popular tourist destinations offer affordable flight prices. You can reach these cities without spending a lot of money.

For most people, Christmas is a time when they feel comfortable within their own four walls. On the other hand, holidays are also ideal for traveling. You often have to dig deeper into your pockets for these, but the prices are not the same everywhere. Travel search engine Kayak has evaluated which holiday destinations can be reached by cheap flights at Christmas.

The first is a city that is very popular at Christmas. The British capital, London, is a top destination for shopping enthusiasts as well as die-hard Christmas fans who come to enjoy the beauty of the lights, festivities and markets. A round-trip flight in economy class costs an average of 150 euros.

The City of Love is in second place in the price-performance ranking. It costs an average of 176 euros to go to Paris and back home. As in London, the streets here – and the famous Eiffel Tower – are festively illuminated. Roma takes third place in the comparison. The Eternal City is the heart of the Catholic world – especially at Christmas, it develops an atmosphere of its own. St. Peter’s Square is festively decorated, nativity scenes and lights everywhere, and on December 24 there is a famous midnight mass at the Vatican.

Christmas holidays don’t have to be expensive – especially if you think about price and performance at the same time. According to Kayak’s analysis, destinations such as London, Rome or Paris offer relatively reasonable prices.

However: Even though there are many flights available at low prices these days, it’s worth taking a second look. Some tourist destinations score points with cheap tickets, but have expensive hotels. If you want to save, you should always calculate flight and accommodation costs together – and remain as flexible as possible in terms of departure airport, travel time or accommodation category.
