Meet at The Vatican between Pope Leo XIV and Laura Pausini. The Holy Father confessed to the singer: “I have been a fan of his from Sanremo. My secretary is his biggest fan in Latin America.” The artist’s response was immediate: “I feel so blessed.”
Laura Pausini provided the Pope with an unpublished passage from one of her interpretations “Brother of the Sun Brother of the Moon,” taken from the Song of the Creatures by St. Francis of Assisi. “I hope he likes it!”. The Pope then reminded that next year there will be a jubilee year dedicated to Saint Francis in commemoration of the 800th anniversary of his death. “So I chose it on purpose,” said Pausini. “What fate,” Pope Leo XIV agreed.
Laura Pausini has crossed national borders with her music, becoming an ambassador for universal values such as inclusion, solidarity and peace. Continuous commitment and collaboration with the most vulnerable groups – from children to victims of humanitarian crises – UNICEF, Save the Children, Amnesty International and the World Food Programme, has made it a reference point in the global musical and social panorama.
For his services, Billboard Italia has decided to give him this award. As the most internationally awarded Italian artist, Pausini also received the Billboard Icon Award during the 2025 Billboard Latin Music Awards in October, which was presented to him by renowned artist Ozuna.
