Misiani, ‘Meloni is playing games with local governments, the numbers say otherwise’ – Il Tempo

Rome, November 12 (Adnkronos) – “Giorgia Meloni can say what she wants, but the figures show another truth: the last two budget laws have taken 10 billion and 700 million from regional governments between current spending and investments. To say that this is a ‘no cuts’ maneuver is to play a zero-sum game. The reality is that the right-wing government has abandoned the region and ignored the real needs of the people.” Antonio Misiani, Chair of Economic Affairs for the Democratic Party, said this.

“In the three-year period 2026-2028 alone, 3 billion and 400 million will be lost, forcing city, provincial and metropolitan governments to reduce services and cancel thousands of public works. The situation worsens if we consider that this year’s budget law continues to ignore the housing emergency, placing the burden of supporting the most vulnerable families living in rentals in municipalities, and there are no additional euros for local public transport, despite rising costs and work contracts having to be renewed.”

“These are the facts, everything else is just propaganda. Meloni and Giorgetti would do well to start compensating local governments for the cuts made in recent years.”
