Paris remembers the November 13, 2015 attacks

France has been remembering him for days with a series of commemorative events terrorist attacks of 13 November 2015 in Paris and Saint-Denis. The death toll stood at 132 people, including compatriot Valeria Solesin, and more than 350 people were injured. Today, on the anniversary of the attacks, moments of reflection and silence are planned in front of all the places attacked by Islamic terrorist commandos, in the presence of President Emmanuel Macron.

November 13, 2015 attack

The night of terror on November 13 2015 began at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis. In the stands was the President of the Republic François Hollande, on the pitch the players were training for the friendly match between France and Germany. This was the start of a series of simultaneous terrorist attacks, on several busy cafes and restaurants, then a third commando force stormed the Bataclan. American Eagles of Death Metal perform on stage but are interrupted by a barrage of gunfire. Three jihadists opened fire wildly on 1,500 spectators: it was a massacre.

The warning

The day will begin at 11.30 with a tribute to Manuel Dias, the first victim, and the injured in the attack on the Stade de France, in Saint-Denis. Tributes will be held sequentially at each affected location, starting from the terrace of the building to the east of the capital: at 12.30pm in front of Petit-Cambodge and Carillon, at 1pm in Bonne Bière, at 13.30 in Comptoir Voltaire, and at 13.50 in La Belle Équipe. The stop in front of the Bataclan, the room where 90 people died, is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.

A memorial service is scheduled for 6 pm at the Jardin du November 13, 2015, at Place Saint-Gervais in Paris, near the City Hall. Several speeches are expected, including those from Emmanuel Macron, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo and Philippe Duperron and Arthur Dénouveaux, presidents of the associations 13onze15 and Life for Paris respectively. The names of the victims of the attacks will be read out.

The event was entrusted to the artistic direction of Thierry Reboul, former executive director of the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic ceremonies. “Rock music will be central. The idea is to pay tribute to the spirit that has cost several people their lives (especially the fans of the Eagles of Death Metal band who played that night at the Bataclan),” Reboul told Le Monde newspaper. The ceremony will be broadcast live on France 2 and on the big screen at the Place de la République. France Télévisions also ran a special program to mark the tenth anniversary of the attacks, on France 2 and france.tv.

Among the commemorative events, there were also several exhibitions throughout Paris. The evening also includes tributes in music and theater: at 8 p.m., the Paris Chamber Orchestra will perform, among other works, “Il fait november en mon âme” by Béchara El-Khoury at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, in memory of the victims.

Also at the theater, the public can attend a performance of ‘Les Consolantes’ by writer and director Pauline Susini, a work dedicated to “intimate and collective forms of consolation and reconstruction” after the attacks. From yesterday until tonight the Eiffel Tower will be lit up in blue, white and red – the colors of the flag – as soon as it gets dark, said the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo.
