Kiel – Drones increasingly threaten German security. Now the CDU in Schleswig-Holstein is sounding the alarm – and calling for changes to the Constitution! Objective: Domestic deployment of the Bundeswehr to combat airborne threats.
This comes from Prime Minister Daniel Günther’s main party proposal, which will be presented at the party conference on 22 November. This paper is available to BILD.
Daniel Günther (52) is the state chairman of the CDU in Schleswig-Holstein and has been Prime Minister since 2017
Three drone strikes per day
Drones are no longer just a recreational activity. They become dangerous. And every day. According to a confidential report from the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) entitled “Germany is becoming more than just a weapon of crime Threatened by drones three times a day!
► The application says: “CDU Schleswig-Holstein takes the position that all security authorities should have the same legal options for drone defense. This means the federal police, state police and the Bundeswehr have equal and strong powers to counter drones.”

More rights for the Bundeswehr at home
The Bundeswehr should not be confined by the fences of its own property; it must be permitted to operate within the country.
► And further: “To this end, the Basic Law – Article 35 of the Basic Law – must be amended, which already allows the Bundeswehr to provide support within the country in the event of natural disasters or serious accidents.” As a first step, amending the Aviation Security Act is the right thing to do so that the Bundeswehr can provide technical support in defense against drones as quickly as possible.
To be able to defend against military drones, the EU’s proposed drone wall in Eastern Europe must also be built in Schleswig-Holstein.
Currently, the Bundeswehr is only allowed to operate within the country in the event of a natural disaster or in very exceptional cases, for example. B. when the basic order of free democracy is in danger.
Just how real the danger is has been demonstrated several times this year: Frankfurt, Munich and Berlin airports had to be partially closed due to drone sightings. Who is behind this is often still unclear. However, according to authorities, several drones formed indicated the presence of state actors. Often suspected: China or Russia.
Drones have also been repeatedly seen at “critical infrastructure” such as port facilities or the TKMS submarine yard in Kiel.
