Moments of panic for a bride who is dissatisfied with professional makeup on her wedding day. The woman recorded a video in which she quickly removed her makeup and did it again 20 minutes before her wedding celebration.. He posted the video to TikTok, where it went viral, racking up nearly 2 million views and hundreds of comments, eventually catching the attention of a makeup artist who once worked for him.
Kandra Jonesa professional hair and makeup artist from San Diego, joined TikTok to comment on the bride’s video Lauren Averywhich has since become private property. In his response video, Kandra shared excerpts from the original videoin which Lauren wore a makeup headband and leaned into the camera saying, “I’m taking off my wedding makeup.”
The text overlaid on the original video read: “Key note: they did my make-up for my wedding and it was gross, so I decided to take my make-up off and do it myself.” Lauren then shared a photo of the finished makeup, with the caption: “A smile says it all!”.
Kandra created a TikTok account after her client posted the offensive video: “Hi. So millions of you saw the viral video of the bride taking off her makeup 20 minutes before her first appearance on her wedding day. Yes, I was the makeup artist. Honestly I was shocked.” Honestly, there was no sign of him being dissatisfied. I have been doing this work for over 20 years and I have learned to communicate well with my brides. I also learned to read body language, so even if the bride says she likes it, I can often tell if she doesn’t just by the way she sits or just from other cues.“.
And again: “I made the changes she asked for and she seemed happy. She gave me the biggest smile I’ve ever seen from a bride. And yeah, I don’t know. Plus, the wedding was in August, so several months had passed. I didn’t know he was unhappy.”
“The thing that bothered me was who the bride was. I don’t even use TikTok, so I didn’t expect this to happen. One of my clients saw it, realized it was going viral, and contacted me. And when he told me what happened, I tried to think which bride to beand when I saw that it was this bride, that’s what hurt me. Because this bride is very cute.”
Finally: “She was so easy to work with, so kind. So that’s what hurt me, the character of the bride I thought was nothing like her. And that’s what hurt me the most. But that’s how it is, it can’t be changed now.” All we can do is move forward and learn from this. So, prospective brides and grooms, if they are getting married, don’t need to hire a make-up artist. There’s nothing to say. If you like the way you do your makeup, do it on your wedding day. And even if you hire us, you don’t offend us. I’m also glad this happened to me and not to another colleague or collaborator on my team, because this was very difficult to deal with. I appreciate all the support from the makeup artists. The makeup community has contacted me in droves to support me. I’ve received hundreds of messages in the last two days, showing love and support, and this means a lot to me. So thank you.”
