The US has sanctioned two Ukrainian companies for allegedly supplying drone spare parts to Iran.
The US has imposed sanctions on two Ukrainian companies. This was reported by “Business Insider”. According to the US Treasury Department, these companies are said to have supplied critical spare parts for drones to Iranian military manufacturer HESA.
The US Treasury Department said the companies GK Imperativ and Ekofera acted as front companies for Iranian procurement agents. They delivered components such as attitude indicators and magnetometers to the Iranian Aircraft Manufacturing Industry Company (HESA).
Drones are used by Russia
According to “Business Insider”, HESA, among other things, produces the Shahed drone that Russia used in the war against Ukraine. HESA also developed the Ababil drone, which is used by groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah, the ministry said.
According to RBC, three Iranian agents are said to have established a network with Ukrainian companies to ship components such as sensors, engines and other components to their home country.
The list of sanctions was expanded
GK Imperativ and Ekofera were included in the US sanctions list. John Hurley, Deputy Minister of Finance, called on the international community to consistently implement UN sanctions against Iran.
The sanctions are part of a wider list that includes 32 people and companies from countries including the United Arab Emirates, Germany, China and India. All are suspected of supporting Iran’s production of ballistic missiles and drones.
