In Libya, fuel smuggling fuels fires in Sudan – Liberation

Horrifying images and testimonies of the massacres that have occurred in Darfur since October 26 have provided a belated and harsh glimpse into Sudan’s civil war, which has ravaged the country for more than two and a half years. And raising the question of external support for both sides fighting in this war, which has become regionalized and fueled all kinds of human trafficking. The first and most important is fuel in neighboring Libya, the mechanisms of which are detailed in a report by the US-based non-profit organization The Sentry, published this Thursday, November 13.

More than a million liters of fuel flows daily through Al-Kufra district, which borders Darfur, in southeastern Libya, the report detailed. A trade center for minerals, weapons, vehicles and fuel, Al-Kufra district is controlled by the clan of Marshal Khalifa Haftar, ruler of Benghazi, eastern and southern Libya for more than a decade.
