Rome, November 13 (Adnkronos) – From small villages to big cities: Award-winning Municipalities, Metropolitan Cities and Provinces, Unions or Groupings of Municipalities, Mountain Communities that have implemented innovative and concrete projects to improve the quality of life of their communities. The tenth edition of the Cresco Award – Sustainable Cities award ceremony took place today in Bologna, an initiative promoted by the Sodality Foundation in collaboration with Anci (National Association of Italian Cities) that increases the commitment of Italian local authorities to the sustainable development of the region, in line with the Goals of the UN 2030 Agenda.
Five awards were given directly by the Sodality Foundation, after going through the selection of an independent multi-stakeholder jury chaired by the Chancellor of the Milan Polytechnic, Donatella Sciuto, to the city governments of Bergolo (CN), Fossacesia (CH), Vimodrone (MI), Portici (NA) and Milan.
Twenty-six awards were given by companies associated with the Sodality Foundation which is committed to promoting a business culture oriented towards sustainability and collaboration with the region. This year there are 21 partner companies in this initiative: Alstom, Bureau Veritas Italia, Cellnex, Certiquality, Confida, Consulnet, FedEx, Industree Hub, Intesa Sanpaolo, Italgas, Kpmg, Let’s Donation, Lexmark, Mapei, Pirelli, Poste Italiane, Sias, STMicroelectronics, Ubs, Up2You, Wise Engineering. Finally, on the occasion of the tenth edition of the contest, special prizes were also awarded to the Municipality of Milan and Vione (BS), as well as to the companies Mapei and Pirelli.
The 2025 edition recorded the participation of 99 local governments, with 124 candidate projects, confirming the growing interest in regional sustainability. Over these ten years, the Cresco Award has gathered almost 1,200 projects, becoming a reference point for Italian public administration and an excellent observatory of good local sustainability practices. All projects can be consulted in the Cresco Library, an online database that represents a wealth of knowledge and attests to the City’s key role in guiding the region’s development towards a more equitable and sustainable future.

Today, it is faced with challenges such as the environmental and digital transition, increasing inequality, the impact of change demographics to society and employment, it becomes even more important to combine the skills, resources and vision of public bodies and private companies, to produce concrete, long-term solutions capable of generating widespread growth and prosperity.”
