OpenAI has introduced a new version of ChatGPT. AI models will appear more natural and offer many options for personalization.

ChatGPT has received an update and is now available in two new versions. According to OpenAI developers, conversations with AI should be “smarter and more entertaining” than ever. OpenAI calls these two new models “Instant GPT-5.1” and “GPT-5.1 Thinking”.

“Instant GPT-5.1” is a model that is now “friendlier and more communicative by default,” OpenAI wrote. Adjustments have also been made to more precise question answers so that “questions actually asked can be answered more reliably.”

According to OpenAI, “GPT-5.1 Thinking” is an AI model aimed at complex tasks such as math problems. AI now processes it in more detail and faster than before. Through adjustments, the language model now provides the answers “more clearly, with less technical jargon and fewer undefined terms.” OpenAI hopes to make AI models easier to access and understand.

In addition to these changes and improvements, there are other AI personalities that users can choose from, according to the developer. The “Standard”, “Friendly”, “Efficient”, “Cynical”, and “Nervous” communication styles are maintained. The new ones are “Professional”, “Open” and “Idiosyncratic”.

With the new update, OpenAI wants to adapt its language model more closely to user needs, the company wrote. Further options for individual settings will follow soon. This includes fine-tuning the AI properties, which will be rolled out gradually to a limited number of users over the course of a week.

OpenAI plans to release “GPT-5.1 Instant” and “GPT-5.1 Thinking” to all users this week. Soon after, the models will also be available via programming interfaces (APIs).
