Operation at the Brandenburg Gate: Berlin’s historic buildings are demonstrated by demonstrators. Apart from police officers, climbing experts must also come.
Some demonstrators climbed the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin on Thursday and hung pro-Palestinian banners. Police said three activists reached the gate on a lifting platform.
The banner read “No More Genocide – Freedom for Palestine.” The image shows one of the demonstrators at the Brandenburg Gate waving a Palestinian flag.
The police, among others, deployed climbing experts from a technical unit called high-altitude rescue. At midday, working with the fire brigade, they also climbed over the gate and arrested three protesters, two women and one man.
Three other demonstrators took control of the elevator and were also arrested. To do this, the police had to break the van’s lift window because the protesters did not want to drive the car away. 75 police officers are on duty.
