Handball Bundesliga: HSV Hamburg lost at Göppingen after coming from behind

Bundesliga handball player from HSV Hamburg lost the second game in a row. Four days after 29:33 in the small northern derby at SG Flensburg-Handewitt, North Germany lost 30:34 (14:16) in Frisch Auf Göppingen. With nine goals, Casper Mortensen is the best thrower of the Hanseatic team who now has 11:13 points. Oskar Sunnefeldt was successful for the hosts.

At the start of the match, the goalkeepers of both sides stood out. Egypt’s Mohamed El-Tayar for Hamburg and Norway’s Kristian Saeveras for Göppingen defused several shots from the opposing team. Only six goals were scored in a 3-3 draw after ten minutes.

HSVH coach Jansen struggled with mistakes and officiating

With the score 3-0, the hosts then took the lead to 6:3 (13) and forced North Germany into the first timeout. “We had a little bit of trouble with technical errors, missed throws and referee decisions,” the HSVH coach said Torsten Jansen. His team improved, but was unable to capitalize on a temporary lead at 13:11 (23rd minute). Hamburg fell behind again at the break.

Midway through the second half the deficit grew to six goals (19:25/44). HSVH reduced the deficit to 27:29 (54th), but with two goals into the visitors’ empty net to make it 30:27 and 31:27 (both 55th), goalkeeper Frisch-Auf Saeveras fired Swabia to victory.
