Erratic gala performance: Gottschalk upset at Bambi award

It’s the most whispered topic at the Bambi awards: What really happened? Thomas Gottschalk is happening? Experienced moderation professionals caused real irritation at the party at the Bavarian Studio in Grünwald near Munich. When the award was presented to music star Cher, the 75-year-old appeared unstable, disoriented and almost overwhelmed.

He babbles, speaks slowly and is not always coherent. Gottschalk, who came to the party with his wife Karina, even drew boos when he announced Cher with the line: “This is her, the only woman I take seriously in my life.”

“Cher, Cher, there’s nothing harder than Cher”

Gottschalk said, “Cher, Cher, there’s nothing harder than Cher,” and then went into a long episode about how her Bambi trophy was melted down in her burning villa in Malibu. Gottschalk said he had seen “everything” about the US singer, which immediately stopped him: “not everything”.

Once he stood between the award winner and the camera, distracted her for a moment – but then asked if she wanted to say something. And one time he said he was a little confused.

Cher is revered as a “legend”.

Cher awarded Bambi as a “legend” at the awards ceremony. The 79-year-old singer and actress knew Gottschalk from several visits to her previous ZDF show “Wetten,dass..?”

Laudator Hannes Jaenicke called Cher “an artist, an icon, a humanist, a legend” in his eulogy. Your award is the last item in the program before the ceremony ends.

By the way, he doesn’t see himself as a legend whose career can only be seen in retrospect. “I’m a working woman,” Cher said on the red carpet. “I am a strong woman.” The Bambi judges honored her as a “pop goddess.”
