Halle main station is closed – what travelers need to know
There will be a closure at Halle main station for several days. The reason is various jobs. For tourists, this means diversion and switching to buses. What does it actually mean?
Work on the line, connecting new switches and software changes: There will be major restrictions for tourists at Halle main station this coming weekend. According to Deutsche Bahn (DB), the important transport hub will be partially closed starting Friday at 10 p.m. until Sunday at 10 p.m. and then closed completely for six hours until 4 a.m. Monday. This changes for local and long distance transport:
Buses as an alternative operate in local transportation
Anyone traveling by local transport uses the available replacement buses. According to DB, no trains will operate between the main stations of Halle and Halle-Nietleben, Sangerhausen, Merseburg, Halle-Trotha and Reußen from Friday (10 p.m.) to Monday (4 a.m.). Starting Sunday at 10 p.m. until Monday at 4 am there is no connection between the main stations of Halle and Niemberg, Landsberg, Schkeuditz and Leipzig/Halle Airport.
Many stop cancellations on long-distance transportation
Most long-distance trains do not stop at Halle main station, but most also stop at Bitterfeld, Leipzig main station, and Leipzig/Halle Airport. Direct connections between Berlin/Erfurt and Halle are no longer available. From the direction of Halle there is a transfer option via Magdeburg or Leipzig to Berlin and Erfurt. The Stuttgart-Cologne-Hannover-Magdeburg-Leipzig and Norddeich Mole-Hannover-Magdeburg-Halle-Leipzig IC connections continue to run and stop at Halle main station.
