What does he want? AfD? This question becomes increasingly important given the coalition situation. Some conservatives are now discussing whether the European Union should abandon its alliance with the SPD to implement a reform agenda in a minority government with right-wing support. However, the AfD’s election program is formulated so vaguely in many places that it is difficult to say what it actually means.
The party has now outlined the concept of tax policy. This is a billion dollar prize for the rich and richest. The top percentage of the revenue scale alone would be reduced by 44.7 billion euros per year. This amount is equivalent to a third of the total tax cuts proposed by the AfD in its concept of 115.7 billion euros. In contrast, the entire bottom half of the population would have to pay just 4.6 billion euros less in taxes. The figures come from Stefan Bach, a tax expert at the German Institute for Economic Research. He calculated the AfD tax concept for DIE ZEIT.
