“Six years the faithful have been waiting for this”: the expansion of the Ibn Badis Mosque in Nanterre is finally on track

The extension he dreamed of would become a reality. Last Friday, the Ibn Badis Institute signed, with the municipality of Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine), the deed of sale of the premises located at 227 avenue Clémenceau. In other words, the cultural and religious association – which manages private schools and mosques – has become the owner of the former state school building, once occupied by Afpa, which they have been coveting since 2019. An acquisition that allows the largest mosque in Nanterre to expand and double, according to the wishes of its management, its reception capacity.

“Finally we were able to buy,” said Rachid Abdouni, president of the association. The faithful have been waiting for this for more than six years. Kindness was also given to them because, for the most part, they never stopped believing in it. » Some parties still doubt whether this project will be successful. Especially when the Hauts-de-Seine prefecture appealed to the Cergy administrative court to block the extension.
