Austrian arrest warrant: Serial thief across Europe arrested in Frankfurt

A suspected serial thief operating across Europe has been arrested by federal police at Frankfurt Central Station. The 39-year-old suspect was with an Austrian citizen Arrest warrant wanted, federal police said. He is considered a highly skilled pickpocket and baggage thief and has used more than 20 aliases.

The man was discovered Wednesday afternoon by a so-called Super Recognizer Federal Police has been acknowledged. Super recognizers are specially trained officers who have special abilities to recognize criminals and suspects, for example through video or photo cameras. The officer noticed the man on the train platform. Moments later he was arrested on the train without resistance.

Damage of 130,000 euros due to two thefts

The 39-year-old man was clearly known to officers as a suspect in two theft cases on 17 and 18 September 2025 in Hanau and Frankfurt. High-quality branded goods worth around 130,000 euros were stolen. It is considered to be part of a professionally organized perpetrator structure operating throughout Europe.
