There is no doubt that Luis Rubiales, amidst the so far successful promotion of his book, Kill Rubialesin Madrid, it would work in no particular order. In several videos circulating on the network, we see the fallen Spanish football boss, in a dark suit, sitting on a bench in the middle of a promotional session for the publication of this book, not surprisingly, with a very compromising approach. This book tells the story of the punishment of the former president of the RFEF, the Spanish federation, in the case of a forced kiss on Spanish striker Jenni Hermoso, on the trophy ceremony podium, during the Women’s World Cup in August 2023.
Suddenly a hooded man approached. He shouted: “Don’t be afraid, everything is fine!” Then send the first egg to Luis Rubiales. The downside. Not the second one, which hit the former Spanish football powerhouse in the back. Then a third from which Rubiales escapes. He then gave chase, nearly breaking her face, before being restrained by another participant in the room. The book presentation then continued. Another video then shows the egg thrower being taken away by police.
On Radio Marca, Luis Rubiales confirmed that the attacker was his uncle, Luis Rubiales. “Someone came in, then I saw it was one of my uncles, who was always a troubled man. He came in with eggs, but I didn’t know what he had in his hands and when I saw him storm in, I thought he had a gun.”Rubiales said.
The scene interrupts a series of self-promotions that are supposed to rehabilitate the man. The day before, Wednesday, Rubiales again minimized the sexual violence committed against Jenni Hermoso, so he was fined 10,800 euros. The former human rights defender stated that the kiss was true “permission”which is always denied by players. Since the reform of the Spanish Criminal Code, kissing without consent can be considered sexual harassment, a criminal category that combines all types of sexual violence.
His book aims to denounce, in his own words,“public murder” where he claimed to be a victim, as a result of a “parallel reality” triggered by a “a sudden movement from the far left”.
This isn’t the first uncle to come looking for fleas from Luis Rubiales. Juan Rubiales, Rubiales’ former chief of staff when he was still RFEF president, has revealed several things about his nephew.
In testimony reported in 2022 in El Mundo Deportivohe accused him of organizing in 2020 “party in private chalet” in Salobreña, a city located in the province of Granada, at the expense of the Spanish federation. “The rental of this house is solely for the enjoyment of him and his close associates, the expenses are paid with RFEF’s own company card”then accused Juan Rubiales, who added to that“a group of eight or ten young girls” had been invited there.
In another confession made in August 2022, the former chief of staff also accused his nephew of asking him to help himself out of RFEF coffers, days before his dismissal. “to bring money to his father”. His uncle would reject the proposal, which would embarrass him.
This controversy has died down. However, Juan Rubiales also has to testify in the context of another case, in which Luis Rubiales is still mired, regarding alleged corruption surrounding the contract to transfer the Spanish Super Cup to Saudi Arabia.
Investigators are particularly interested in a series of irregular contracts made by the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) while Rubiales was in power, between 2018 and 2023. The former professional player denies receiving money in any particular way. “irregular” in this other procedure. Several leaders and former collaborators of the RFEF were so suspicious that the Spanish government decided to place the agency under supervision. “for the benefit of” the country, which should host the 2030 World Cup with the majority being Morocco and Portugal, but also with Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay, who will each host the match.
