A first for the French Football Federation. In between the Blues’ match against Ukraine (4-0) and their qualification to the next World Cup this Thursday, November 13 at the Parc des Princes, the partnership between FFF and Orange is renewed with the specificity of equality between men’s and women’s football.
The agreement, valid until 2030, promises to equalize this major partnership for both French teams and amateur football. “The development of women’s football is the Federation’s top priority,” recalled Philippe Diallo, FFF president shortly before the match started. We have 2,400,000 members, including 250,000 women, making football the leading team sport in France, but our ambition is to double this number. We need to invest, structure and professionalize women’s football to ensure that all little girls who want to play football can find clubs, coaches and referees. »
Jérôme Henique, executive director of Orange France, welcomed the “major step forward” aimed at building a “fairer and more equal playing field”. “We hope that this French people’s favorite sport can carry with it our values of inclusion and innovation,” he stressed.
The renewal was signed in the presence of Jean-Michel Aulas, FFF vice-president and boss of the Women’s Professional Football League, Samuel Umtiti, 2018 world champion and Elisa de Almeida, Bleues executive. “This is a gesture of equality that really touches my heart,” reacted the Paris Saint-Germain player. When I started playing, women’s football was still not what it used to be. The current choice of Orange is a witness to the evolution of women’s football. Several measures have been taken recently and we must continue to implement them. »
