A man threatening with a knife was shot and injured by police on Friday, November 14, afternoon at Montparnasse station in Paris, franceinfo and Agence Radio France learned from corroborating sources.
To Agence Radio France, the Paris prosecutor’s office reported‘”at least one shot was fired” by police at Montparnasse station, early Friday afternoon.
According to preliminary information, a man known to commit domestic violence displayed a knife and a police officer used his weapon to stop him. According to Paris prosecutors, the man then turned the knife on himself. Emergency services were immediately called. Paris firefighters told Agence Radio France that there was “two people injured”without a vital prognosis, including one affected person.
According to sources close to the case at franceinfo, the man was traveling by train from Rennes when he specifically threatened his wife. When he got out of the train, the police were waiting for him. That’s when the incident occurred, shortly before 3 p.m.
Contacted by Agence Radio France, SNCF indicated that security perimeters had been installed on several of the station’s platforms. The company also indicated that as an impact, train traffic was slightly disrupted in the early afternoon.
