FC Versailles did not escape sanctions. Summoned this Thursday by the federal disciplinary commission for “alleged violations of football ethics and the charter of professional conduct”, the Yvelines club was fined 1,000 euros according to information from Amateur Football that we can confirm. Sports director Salomon Kashala received a three-month suspension, one of which was suspended.
His comments on Versailles player Modeste Doku in the mini-series (in six episodes) entitled “The Club” and broadcast last September on the Canal+ channel caused controversy.
At the end of the first episode dedicated to the start of the 2024-2025 season, Salomon Kashala discussed with president Alexandre Mulliez and general manager Fabien Lazare the situation of striker Modeste Doku, who is no longer part of the club’s plans even though he is under contract until June 2025 (the player finally left last summer to Royal Excelsior Virton, in Belgium).
“All the training sessions, while the others were playing football, he was running around the field,” he explained. I did it at Dunkirk, I took six players out like that. We took it apart.”
The investigation also targeted Alexandre Mulliez and Fabien Lazare but they were not punished. Salomon Kashala was therefore banned for two months from participating in federal activities and appearing on the match sheet. However, he will be able to go to the stadium to follow his team. When contacted, FC Versailles did not want to react to the disciplinary committee’s sanctions. Fourth in the National, Versaillais, already eliminated from the Coupe de France, will travel to Châteauroux on Friday 21 November for day 14.
