Equestrian tournament in Stuttgart: French victory in jumping in Stuttgart

Show jumper Julien Epaillard won the 105,500 euro show jumping competition at the German Masters at Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle in Stuttgart. In the jump-off, the 48-year-old Frenchman remained without penalty points over twelve-year-old Donatello d’Auge in a time of 31.39 seconds. European champion Richard Vogel of Pfungstadt was the first of six jump-off participants on Cloudio in a time of 32.96 seconds.

Bas Moerings of the Netherlands was third over Kivinia (0/34.05). Pfungstadt’s Sophie Hinners took fifth place in Lommers and Daniel Deusser, who lives in Belgium, took sixth place in Pepita.

Philipp Schulze Topphoff had previously won the second qualifier. In the saddle of twelve-year-old Westphalian mare Carla, the 27-year-old from Westbevern completed the 30,000 euro test with no penalty points in 68.47 seconds. Second and third places went to Epaillard on Frangan (0/68.71 seconds) and Roger Yves Bost on Ballerine (0/69.05).

Von Bredow-Werndl won in dressage

In dressage, double Olympic champion Jessica von Bredow-Werndl of Tuntenhausen won the Grand Prix, a qualifying World Cup test on Saturday, with 73.261 percent. After a failed salute, ten-year-old Diallo showed highlights in passage and piaffe and took it to the top. Sweden’s Patrick Kittel was second in touchdowns ahead of Raphael Netz (Moosburg) in Camelot.
