Glorious wins instead of goal celebrations: The road to the World Cup remains an ordeal for Julian Nagelsmann and the national team fans. Without their injured captain and leader Joshua Kimmich, the DFB side avoided embarrassment against Luxembourg after an unassailable first half thanks to two goals from Nick Woltemade.
Center forward Nick Woltemade (49th/69th minute) redeemed a DFB team, beset by many failures and disappointing in every way, at the Stade de Luxembourg, sold out by a crowd of 9,214, with his goal for a mandatory 2-0 (0-0) win against an outside team that had no points but played with passion.
The line-up:
Luxembourg: Moris – Jans, Korac, Carlson, Bohnert (46. Martins) – C. Martins (79. Curci), Olesen (79. Djabi Embalo), O. Thill (71. Tomas Cruz), Barreiro – Sinani, Dardari (88. S. Thill)
