Books and more: What you need to know about the Oldenburg Children’s Book Fair

Starting this Saturday (15 November), book fans young and old will find plenty of new reading material at the free Oldenburg Children’s and Young People’s Book Fair (Kibum). Under the motto “Body & Soul: Kibum moves!” There is also plenty to discover for those who don’t like to read. Interesting facts about events organized by the city government and University of Oldenburg organized:

– More than 2,000 new releases in the field of children’s and youth media from all German-speaking countries will be presented. According to the organizers, it is the largest non-commercial trade fair in Germany.

– Supporting programs include readings by authors, lectures, workshops, exhibitions as well as theater and film offerings.

– This year’s patron is author, journalist and TV presenter Judith Rakers, who has written books about gardening, growing fruit and vegetables and healthy eating. The hero of his children’s books is his fluffy little cat, Jack.

– The focus of the 51st Oldenburg Children’s and Youth Book Fair is the relationship between physical well-being and mental health. Apart from encouraging reading, the organizers want to increase children and teenagers’ awareness of healthy, confident and reflective living. “Move books. “They make you think and open doors – to yourself and the world,” the organizers say.

– Kibum also relies on physical exercise. In the Wallschule sports hall opposite the exhibition center there are offers from personal trainers and yoga teachers.

– Kibum will take place from 15 to 25 November at the PFL exhibition center, Peterstraße 3, in Oldenburg instead. Open Monday to Friday from 08:30 to 18:00, Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 to 19:00. All events and visits to trade fairs are free of charge.
