Violent crime
“Emma” case: Is the perpetrator guilty?
A young woman from Magdeburg was found dead in a forest near Dresden after an illegal techno party. Now a young man is on trial.
Following the violent death of a 21-year-old woman from Magdeburg in a forest in Saxony, the trial of the alleged perpetrator will open in January. It is also necessary to clarify whether the 16-year-old was guilty at the time of the crime, as can be seen from information from the regional court in Dresden and the Dresden prosecutor’s office. The young man was accused of murder.
Emma, then 21 years old and born in Magdeburg, last lived in Dresden. He was found in a forest northeast of Dresden in May. Based on forensic medical findings, the young woman bled to death from stab wounds. Police had previously broken up two illegal techno parties near the crime scene. At that time, officers called witnesses to gather possible clues.
Security procedures are planned
The young man who is now a suspect was arrested not far from where the car was found, which is also the scene of the crime. Authorities have not commented on the crime, motive and background as well as the identities of the young man and those killed, who were reportedly known to each other.
According to the regional court, the main hearing was a security procedure. The process begins if there is evidence that the alleged perpetrator was innocent at the time of the crime. This happens, among other things, if someone is mentally ill or unable to understand the situation due to the influence of drugs.
The youth chamber handles the offender’s accommodation
According to the regional court, the alleged perpetrator is currently placed in a psychiatric clinic. In the case of the 21-year-old murdered in Laußnitzer Heide in the Bautzen district of Saxony, the proceedings were reportedly not made public. The principle of presumption of innocence applies until the final verdict is handed down.

Finally, a decision was taken before the Youth Council regarding the placement of the alleged perpetrator. A detention order was issued and executed by the Dresden Regional Court on suspicion of murder, explained regional court spokesman Andreas Feron. He did not provide further information because the defendant was a minor at the time of the crime.
