Security Council The UN will vote on Monday on a US draft resolution to approve Donald Trump’s Gaza plan. Diplomatic sources reported this.
That text The law specifically provides a mandate until the end of December 2027 for a “peace committee” chaired by the president of the United States and authorizes the deployment of “international stabilization forces.”
America last week began negotiations in the 15-member Security Council on a text that would follow through on a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas and support Trump’s plan. The United States and several Arab and Muslim-majority countries, including Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Turkey, called on the UN Security Council to immediately adopt the resolution.
Russian counter resolution
Meanwhile, Russia has also submitted its draft resolution on Gaza to the UN, unlike the United States, said Reuters, which obtained a copy of the resolution, according to what Israeli media wrote.
The Russian mission to the UN, in a note sent to Security Council members, stated that this was “a counter-proposal inspired by the United States’ design: our goal is to enable the Council to develop a balanced, acceptable and united approach to achieving a sustainable cessation of hostilities”.
