“The relationship between Leonardo and Brazil is historic and strategic. We are proud to have contributed, through the AMX program, to the birth of the Brazilian aviation industry which later gave rise to Embraer”, said Stefano Pontecorvo, president of the board of directors of Leonardo SpA, speaking at the Brazilian National Day celebrations at the Palazzo Pamphilj, headquarters of the Brazilian Embassy in Rome.
Pontecorvo recalls how the company’s industrial presence in the country is now articulated and consolidated: “We operate with Telespazio in the satellite communications sector and we successfully compete in the supply of Centauro II land vehicles for the Brazilian army. For us, Brazil is a country of strategic importance, also because from there we cooperate with the rest of Latin America”. Looking at the further development of the collaboration, president Leonardo indicated sectors with high technological content: “There are significant prospects in the fields of space, cyberspace and traditional defense systems. Brazil has an excellent industrial base, which also allows us to localize part of the production”.
