32:29 against Kiel: Foxes celebrate their goalkeeping giant | sport

Champions beat champion records!

In the new edition of the Super Cup, Füchse Berlin won 32:29 (16:14) against THW Kiel. Incredible: Just 43 hours after winning the Champions League against Sporting CP in Portugal (38:37), the German champions picked up their second big point of the week.

9,000 fans celebrated the Foxes and their return to title contention at Max-Schmeling-Halle Berlin (all visitors were given green jerseys).

Defeated THW coach Filip Jícha (43): “It was a brutal and intense handball match. Füchse goalkeeper Dejan Milosavljev is in our thoughts. We need world-class performances in all positions.”

And the fox? They celebrated their giant goalkeeper.

The best player in the match was Serbian goalkeeper Dejan Milosavljev (29), who secured the win with 18 saves. The delightful heavyweight, who left Füchse in the summer and moved to Kielce (Poland), was hard to beat for the people of Kiel.

Milosavljev himself said about his weight (he came to Berlin weighing 135 kilograms): “I feel most comfortable at 115 kilograms. I already weigh less than 110 kilograms, but that’s not good for me. I’m weak and tired.”

His colleague Andi Wolff (33) is different. Curious: The German goalkeeping giant replaced himself in frustration when the score trailed 8:12 after twenty minutes. His Spanish replacement, the returning Gonzalo Pérez de Vargas (34/ out 9 months after tearing a ligament), has long bought into Füchse’s marksmanship.

The match remained tense until the final whistle sounded. Also because Kiel superstar Elias Ellefsen á Skipagøtu (23) suddenly got better with every throw. The little playmaker took over Kiel’s entire game and scored a total of 12 goals for the Foxes. But in Berlin, world star Mathias Gidsel (26) was weak in scoring goals and only made eight of 13 attempts. The superstar was exhausted and barely had any support from the backcourt.

Mathias Gidsel was happy after the match: “The tank was a bit empty and there weren’t many people on the pitch. But I’m proud we found a solution in the end.”

The Foxes were already six goals ahead (14:8/22) and again in the second half by five goals (27:22/43), but their strength was running out. The devastated team was out of breath. Without the long-term injuries of Wiede, Lichtlein, Prantner and Herburger, the squad is in dire need of reinforcements.

On the sidelines of the match it became known that the Berlin players had left-hander and backcourt player Nejc Cehte (33). The Slovenian still plays for Pelister, but is also active in Hanover and Krickau on GOG. Krickau would not confirm his interest.

At 27:27 (53) everything opened again. The final phase belongs to the fox. Berlin’s best thrower, Tim Freihöfer (23/10 goals), closed it out and fired a seven-yard shot for the win at 32:29.
