Danger of bankruptcy for clinics: Hospital companies criticize federal policy

The managing director of the hospital company in Rhineland-Pfalz, Andreas Wermter, supported the criticism of Health Minister Clemens Hoch (SPD) in federal politics. But he also saw that the states in the Federal Council had a duty. “It remains to be hoped that the states will not lose the political will to assert their legitimate interests in the Federal Council’s development measures,” Wermter told the German Press Agency in Mainz.

“We very much welcome the fact that Health Minister Hoch has once again strongly criticized federal policy decisions regarding hospital reform that have a negative impact on hospitals,” Wermter said.

Increased bankruptcy risk for individual locations

Rhineland-Pfalz and other states must now submit their legitimate demands as part of the current legislative process for the Hospital Reform Adjustment Act (KHAG). Federal Council push through. This is very necessary considering the increasing risk of bankruptcy in each location.

Wermter: No consideration for political reasons

“The results of the legislative process for the Hospital Service Improvement Act (KHVVG) in November last year show how fatal considerations for political reasons can be,” said Wermter. “The law was enacted to counter harsh criticism of the countries for all their shortcomings that Minister Hoch still rightly criticizes today.” The SPD was and is in the federal government.

High: Federal Minister Warken makes the situation worse by making cuts

Hoch had said that the reorganization of hospitals in Germany became more difficult in some places after the change of government in Berlin from traffic lights to black and red. This is so toxic for hospitals that Federal Health Minister Nina Warken (CDU) now wants to take money from them – in Rheinland-Pfalz around 90 million euros. Warken made the situation worse with his slashing plans.

The federal government also lacks specifics regarding regional clinic plans and performance group determination. This is a category of medical services defined based on various criteria, such as: diagnosis, age group, specialist department.
