Mother and children from Hamburg died of what while on holiday? New cases of suspected poisoning in Istanbul lead investigators down a new path.
In the Istanbul poisoning case, the family’s hotel was the focus of the investigation. After a Hamburg mother and her two children died and two other tourists were taken to hospital with symptoms of poisoning, police arrested three more suspects on Saturday, including a person in charge of a hotel in the Fatih district.
The police forensic team, among other things, took samples of the drinking water. It was also discovered that a room on the ground floor had been disinfected with chemicals. The other two people arrested were the people who carried out the disinfection. Chemicals are often used against pests in Türkiye.
The mother and children, aged three and six, died of food poisoning. Pending laboratory results will provide more detailed information. According to Anadolu, the initial autopsy report provides almost no significant information.
