Police conducted a months-long investigation, and the sentence order against Karim Adeyemi is now legally binding. He was sentenced to a large fine for illegal possession of weapons.

Karim Adeyemi has been sentenced to a fine of 450,000 euros for possession of illegal weapons. The penalty order against the 23-year-old striker from Borussia Dortmund will become final on October 30 2025, as announced by public prosecutor Hagen.

A report in the newspaper “Bild” indicated that the fine was equivalent to 60 daily rates of 7,500 euros each and was determined based on his net income. Therefore, Adeyemi is not considered to have a criminal record, but is listed in the Federal Central Register.

According to the report, the investigation into the national player began in the summer of 2024. At that time, Adeyemi was not included in Germany’s European Championship squad and instead flew to Greece with his partner Loredana. During this period, officers apparently discovered brass knuckles and electrical impulse devices – both items whose acquisition, possession and use are punishable in Germany.

Adeyemi has not commented publicly on his specific background. When asked by Bild, his lawyer Jorge Mendes only said that the case had to do with a so-called “mystery box” ordered via TikTok. Further details are unclear.

Borussia Dortmund responded to the request and stressed: “BVB always takes criminal allegations seriously and as an opportunity to discuss them with its employees while maintaining confidentiality obligations.”

Adeyemi is currently with the German national team. He did not feature in the 2-0 win in Luxembourg due to a yellow card suspension, but is in national coach Julian Nagelsmann’s squad for the upcoming clash with Slovakia (Monday, from 20:45 on t-online live ticker).
