Berlin, November 16 (Adnkronos) – The President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, together with his German counterpart, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, has arrived at the Bundestag, where he will speak at the ‘National Day of Mourning’ ceremony, 80 years after the end of the Second World War. The commemoration opened with a performance by the women’s choir of St. Peter’s Cathedral in Bremen, under the direction of Markus Kaiser and accompanied by the Bremen Baroque Orchestra, of the sacred cantata ‘Tilge, Höchster, meine Sünden’, based on Psalm 51 by Johann Sebastian Bach, an arrangement of ‘Stabat Mater’ by Italian composer Giovanni Battista Pergolesi.
