Alpes-Maritimes is the only department remaining on orange alert this Sunday

In its latest situation update at 14:00, Météo-France lifted the orange alert for Drôme and Isère.

There is only one department in southeastern France on alert. The Alpes-Maritimes remains under the orange “rain flood” warning until 6pm, Sunday 16 November, according to the latest Météo-France bulletin, issued at 2pm. “Many periods of rain occur with high intensity at certain times, especially on the coast and first relief. During this period, it is estimated that accumulation ranges from 80 to 120 mm. The intensity can reach 20 to 40 mm per hour. The rain subsides in the evening”determine Météo-France.

Earlier today, the Mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, announced the opening of his X account “vigilance cell of (Sunday) morning to monitor developments in the situation.added that “Parks, gardens, cemeteries, beaches and coastal paths will be closed.” He also appealed to residents to limit their travel.

At 2pm, the alert for Isère and Drôme was lifted. “The rain-storm axis shifts eastward, losing activity. This no longer requires special monitoring”confirmed the forecaster in his latest bulletin.

Previously affected by this orange alert, the Ardèche department was also downgraded to yellow at midday. An elderly person also went missing in the city of Saint-Vincent-de-Barrès, Drôme Ardèche learned from the prefecture HERE. Shortly after 11.00, his colleague did not see him again even though he had parked his car behind closed doors. The couple’s home is located on the bank of a river, the Rieutord, which overflowed its banks on Sunday morning, according to the town’s mayor. Great efforts have been made to find him, according to the prefecture.
