The Guardia Civil is investigating what was committed on Saturday in a chalet in Alpedrete (Madrid) as a sexist murder. According to investigation sources, the attacker, a 60-year-old man, stabbed his partner of the same age to death with 50 stab wounds and then committed suicide. The government delegation against gender violence also described the case on Sunday as an alleged sexist murder via social networks.

The couple’s son found the bodies, calling the emergency services of the Community of Madrid. The autopsy revealed that the woman was brutally stabbed and that the man, who had consumed alcohol and drugs, died after her. There were no previous complaints, nor were they present in the VioGén system, the same sources indicated.

The call alerting about the incident occurred around 12pm on Saturday. The medical team that responded to the scene could only confirm the death.

If the case is confirmed, the number of women killed this year by their partners or ex-partners will rise to 37. Since official statistics began in 2003, there have been 1,331 women.
