Troop – Tractor hell in the field! On Sunday, a fully loaded feed transport caught fire. Luckily for the livestock: The fire broke out 200 meters from the pen.
Thick plumes of smoke drifted over the small town of Struppen on Sunday morning (Saxony) in Saxon Switzerland. A tractor with a feed trailer caught fire as it drove onto the main road. The 40-year-old driver could only save himself by jumping out of the driver’s cab.

A police spokesperson told BILD: “We were informed Fire reported a tractor with a feed trailer at 08:37.” The tractor, built in 1999, is used for agricultural production “Am Bärenstein”. The driver had loaded corn silage and was on his way to the barn where 500 head of cattle were kept. Then the surprise!

At the intersection of Naundorf and Thürmsdorf, the driver suddenly saw flames on the left side and thick smoke coming from the engine room on the right. He had the presence of mind to stop the team, jumped up and called the fire department. Firefighters from Struppen, Naundorf, Thürmsdorf, Weißig and Königstein immediately moved. “At this time we assume there was a technical failure,” continued the police spokesman. Experts are now checking whether a leak in the fuel or hydraulic lines caused the fire. Based on initial findings, the fire came from the rear left wheel. 40 firefighters were loud POLICE during the action, the smell of fire and plumes of smoke were even visible in Pirna, which is located further away.
Both machines were considered total losses; material damage was estimated at around 300,000 euros. However: If a fire had occurred just 200 meters further, in the middle of the enclosure, it could have been catastrophic.
