What next does Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (RMV) offer? The schedule change occurred in mid-December and the RMV wants to present its plans for buses and trains this Monday (10am).
In rail transport, staff shortages and construction sites repeatedly cause problems and disruptions for passengers. RMV managing director Knut Ringat recently criticized Deutsche Bahn’s coordination and communication regarding expansion and maintenance measures in clear terms.
RMV: Passengers standing in the rain
“Our approximately 2.5 million daily passengers, and especially commuters, suffer from restrictions caused by short-term cancellations and schedule changes, often left in the rain without any information,” Ringat wrote in an open letter to new rail board chair Evelyn Palla last week, according to RMV information.
The decline in quality increased to “alarming levels,” Ringat wrote, according to the information. The “tolerance level” towards passengers and rail companies was “significantly exceeded”. Passengers turned around and were forced to get to the car.
Tickets have become more expensive
The new schedule takes effect from 14 December 2025. It has been decided that ticket prices will be more expensive starting from 1 January. Germany tickets will cost 63 euros instead of the previous 58 euros.
Reduced local transport tickets in Hesse, such as student and senior tickets, have also become more expensive, as have reduced German tickets, the Hessenpass mobile.
On average, the RMV will increase its prices by 4.75 percent in the coming year. Because many people have German tickets, many RMV tickets are no longer available, such as nine o’clock monthly tickets and over 65 monthly tickets.
