Albania made it difficult for the “Three Lions” to create long-term scoring opportunities. Then Harry Kane found a gap.
Team manager Thomas Tuchel made history with England and achieved the first perfect World Cup qualification by a European team. Thanks to two goals from Bayern striker Harry Kane (74th and 82nd minutes), the “Three Lions” won 2-0 (0-0) in Albania, it was their eighth clean sheet win in their eighth match.
Never before has a European country completed a World Cup qualifying campaign consisting of at least six games without dropping a point or conceding a goal.
In Tirana, captain Kane made a late decision; they were his international goals number 77 and 78 in his 112th international match. Coach Tuchel has changed his starting Eleven to seven compared to the 2-0 win against Serbia three days earlier. Kane was there again from the start and immediately attacked.
The next opportunity to qualify for the World Cup perfectly will come on Tuesday. European champions Spain have won five games out of five so far, scoring 19-0. The last match was at home against Türkiye.
