“Volunteers provide concrete and humane support” – Il Tempo

Rome, November 17 (Adnkronos Health) – “Volunteers represent real, human support. They offer opportunities for socialization, new activities and relationships that are often impossible to do alone. They are not only practical help, but also true travel companions. For our family, they are a valuable support: they allow us to experience moments of calm and feel part of a community. Without their commitment, much of our children’s progress would not have the same value.” That’s how Daniele Orlandini, president of the Lega del Filo d’Oro Family Committee, spoke at the organization’s national volunteer forum attended by nearly 300 people from November 14 to 16 in Pisa. This event, created to offer a meeting space for everyone that, with its valuable availability, supports deaf-blind people and people with multiple psychosensory disabilities in experiencing moments of sociality and connecting with the world around them, contributing to promoting and enhancing the mission of the Foundation.

Among the testimonies of the 12th National Volunteer Forum, Arianna Verlich, volunteer since 2019 at the Padua territorial headquarters, recalled how the Lega del Filo d’Oro “taught her that, before acting, we must return to being ourselves. Volunteering is not a sacrifice, but a choice that starts from within. Every time I enter into a relationship with someone, their dreams become like mine too. Here I have found a space where dreams, even in fragility, can Grow. While we take care of others – in conclusion – we also find ourselves a little”.
