Requests for overtime reimbursement by some healthcare companies are a real affront to thousands of workers in the National Health Service. UGL Salute condemns the unjustified attacks on professionals who are already underpaid and forced to support a system that will collapse without them. According to the Board of Revenue, with Response no. 272/E of 27 October 2025, overtime hours available immediately with recall of duties and those performed for election activities are not included in tax benefits. The restrictive interpretation, which paves the way for a recalculation and deduction of up to 1,500 euros, also affects contractual arrears and thirteenth payments.

“It is a shame – said Gianluca Giuliano, national secretary of UGL Health – that instead of encouraging those who work day and night to guarantee care and assistance, we choose to further abuse nurses and health workers. These professionals, already underpaid and tired from grueling shifts, are treated like ATMs that can be used to withdraw resources. This is an injustice that we cannot accept”. UGL Salute calls for the immediate suspension of refund requests and announces the fight in all appropriate forums. “CCNL does not differentiate between types of overtime work – Giuliano concluded – and the Revenue Agency cannot decide to punish those who guarantee the right to health. Enough with the ridicule: health workers deserve the respect, pay and recognition they deserve, not further cuts and humiliation.”
