He was allegedly assaulted in the bathroom of the San Siro stadium (Milan) during the match on Sunday 16 November between Italy and Norway. This was reported by a 24-year-old Norwegian tourist who last night went to the Meazza to support his team in the deciding match for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The alleged perpetrator of the harassment has been identified: he is a 25-year-old Egyptian citizen, a regular in Italy, an employee of a cleaning company that works at the stadium. The young man is being investigated at large sexual violence.
Reconstruction
As reported by Corriere della Sera, the tourist felt sick while attending the match. Then he would ask a friend to accompany him inside bathe. Once he reached the toilet, the 24 year old man entered the service room alone. At some point he felt a hand go into his jeans: he turned around and saw the janitor, who immediately left. Shocked, the girl asked one of the flight attendants for help while pointing at the alleged molester. The young man was stopped and taken to the police station inside the stadium.
Suspect’s version
The version given by the suspect is different. The 25-year-old man, who has no criminal record, told investigators he entered the women’s bathroom to run errands and noticed the girl was sick.
So he would approach her to ask if she needed help, and denied that he had ever groped her private parts. A story that clashes with the tourist story. The flying squad is investigating the matter and carrying out all necessary checks to clarify the dynamics and ascertain the possible responsibility of the Egyptian.
