It is said that he suffered from paranoid schizophrenia associated with a lack of awareness of reality. Prosecutors have requested that the defendant be placed in a mental hospital. According to a court spokesman, the so-called security process must be carried out completely behind closed doors.

His trial was also said to be about two other crimes. In January 2025, the 39-year-old man is said to have tried to kill his then-69-year-old father with scissors in Großhansdorf (Stormarn district), northeast of Hamburg. But it failed because the 71 year old mother intervened and took the scissors from his hand. However, the father suffered injuries to the shoulder and upper arm area.

According to the Senate, on February 26 he assaulted a child on a playground at Hamburg Airport. He suddenly grabbed the six-year-old girl’s shoulders, shook her and hit her upper arm with his palm. The Supreme Criminal Chamber has scheduled a seven-day hearing. The verdict could be announced on January 27 – also behind closed doors.
